Submit a Story to The First Year

Thank you for your willingness to share your story.

To submit information to The First Year: Mothers Share Their Stories, simply write about your first year as a mother. Whatever you want to share, the good, the bad, the in-between. There is no minimum or maximum length, but I would suggest aiming for around 1500-2000 words or so.

If the story you wrote is published, you will be paid upon publication of the story. Payment amount will be determined at that time.

Below I will list some questions to get you thinking, but please do not feel you have to answer all of these. You can answer none of them if you want. It is simply a tool to get you started. I want your story, from the heart.

Was the first year what you expected?
What were your expectations?
How did becoming a parent change you?
How did it change your spouse/partner?
How did it change your marriage/relationship?
How did it affect your career, or your professional outlook?
Did it change how you related to others? Other children?
Did it change your view of your parents?
What was the most difficult thing about it?
Most rewarding?
What do you wish you had known about parenthood prior to having your baby?
What transitions did you make during the year?
